Loewe, the Spanish luxury powerhouse, has been making waves on Paris' iconic Avenue Montaigne since 1996. Now, after years of expansion and refinement, the brand has unveiled its grand Casa Loewe flagship store, officially opening its doors on Wednesday. This milestone marks a significant chapter in Loewe's history, solidifying its status as a global luxury player.
A Full-Fledged Luxury Experience
The 6,250-square-foot flagship offers a comprehensive selection of men's and women's ready-to-wear, bags, shoes, and an array of accessories, including small leather goods, jewelry, and eyewear. Additionally, a dedicated home department showcases a range of blankets, cushions, and scents, creating a holistic luxury experience.
Pascale Lepoivre, Loewe's CEO, explains, "We've been working hard to keep up with our key competitors by establishing our Casa network of flagship stores, and Paris was an obvious choice. As one of the fashion capitals, Paris is crucial for growing our brand visibility and awareness, not just locally but also among tourists."
Loewe's Journey to Global Recognition
Loewe's transformation into a global luxury brand has been a strategic endeavor. Lepoivre shares, "We've focused on increasing brand awareness, strengthening our product offerings, and launching successful 360-degree animations that seamlessly connect creativity, culture, and craftsmanship across all touchpoints, from marketing to in-store experiences. This rapid growth demanded a retail presence that matched the brand's stature."
Design Highlights: Avenue Montaigne
Key design elements on Avenue Montaigne include slender ceramic tiles in vibrant hues of green, blue, orange, and silver, complemented by expansive marble surfaces and brass and iron trimmings. The result is a visually striking and elegant space.
Loewe's stores are meticulously designed by its in-house team, led by architect Paula Aza Custodio. The latest refurbishment and expansion, which took approximately one year, showcases the brand's commitment to creating unique and inviting retail environments.
The New Casa in Paris: A Spacious Luxury Haven
The sprawling new Casa in Paris, with entrances at Nos. 46 and 48, is a sight to behold. A series of windows bathe the space in natural light, illuminating a carefully curated collection of unique furniture, paintings, sculptures, and vessels.
Among the highlights are Gerrit Thomas Rietveld's whipstitched Utrecht armchairs, John Allen's vibrant rugs depicting British landscapes, and a monumental cotton wall hanging by Franz Erhard Walther, which served as the backdrop for Loewe's Fall 2019 show.
Design Legacy: Jonathan Anderson's Influence
Northern Irish designer Jonathan Anderson played a pivotal role in revving up Loewe during his acclaimed 11-year tenure. Before taking the design helm at Christian Dior Couture earlier this year, Anderson left his mark on the brand. American design duo Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez succeeded Anderson, showcasing their first collection during Paris Fashion Week last October for the Spring 2026 season. They paid homage to Anderson's signature ceramic tiles by incorporating sleek benches for the audience.
A Fusion of Design and Art
On Avenue Montaigne, Loewe's bespoke creations blend seamlessly with iconic pieces. George Nakashima chairs and Isamu Noguchi lighting fixtures coexist with Loewe's puffy leather benches, marble plinths, and a coffee table in black terrazzo. The space is further enhanced by eclectic works of art, including paintings by Walter Price, an imposing wall panel by Henry Moore, and large-scale ceramics by South African artist Zizipho Poswa.
Craftsmanship on Display
Interspersed throughout the store are examples of stoneware, basket-weaving, ceramics, and woodworking, showcasing the talents of victors from the annual Loewe Foundation Craft Prize, founded in 2016. This initiative celebrates and promotes exceptional craftsmanship.
Inviting and Commercially Successful Design
According to Lepoivre, "All of our stores are designed with a warm and inviting atmosphere while ensuring commercial effectiveness. Each Casa follows a unique design concept, from the art and furniture to the bespoke elements tailored to each location, such as the gold ceramic facade of our recently opened Casa Jing'an in Shanghai."
Global Presence: Casa Flagships
Currently, Loewe operates 15 freestanding Casa flagships worldwide, including locations in Barcelona and Madrid, its home country. Looking ahead, Lepoivre revealed, "Next year, we will expand our existing store on Rue Saint-Honoré to become our second Casa in Paris, further emphasizing the importance of the French market for our brand."
Additionally, Loewe plans to open its first Casa in the U.S. on Madison Avenue in New York and its first Casa in Italy, in Milan, in 2026.
Casa Flagships: The First to Receive New Collections
Lepoivre notes that Casa flagships are the first stores in the Loewe retail network to receive new collections, capsules, and limited-edition products. For instance, the Amazona 180, unveiled with the Spring 2026 collection, will be available first at Loewe Casa locations. "They often offer more spaces to create unique experiences for our valued customers," Lepoivre added.
