A thrilling race at the 2025 United States Grand Prix saw Max Verstappen dominate the track, securing a commanding victory. The Red Bull driver, starting from pole position, left his competitors in the dust, with Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc hot on his trail.
Verstappen's strong start set the tone for the race, as he maintained his lead throughout. The field, having learned from the chaotic Sprint on Saturday, navigated Turn 1 with precision. However, the early stages raised questions about strategic choices, with all drivers opting for a one-stop plan.
And it paid off for Verstappen, who retained his P1 position post-stop. Despite nursing his soft tires in the later stages, the reigning World Champion crossed the finish line with a comfortable margin of 7.959 seconds, sealing his fifth Grand Prix win of the season.
But here's where it gets interesting: a fierce battle unfolded between Norris and Leclerc for the second spot. Leclerc, who initially got ahead of Norris at the start, found himself under relentless pressure from the McLaren driver. In a thrilling finale, Norris made a decisive move on Leclerc, claiming a valuable P2. Leclerc had to settle for third, rounding out the podium.
Lewis Hamilton contributed to Ferrari's points tally, finishing fourth, despite a potential puncture on the final lap. Championship leader Oscar Piastri, who had a challenging weekend, managed to secure fifth place.

George Russell of Mercedes finished sixth, followed by Red Bull's Yuki Tsunoda and Nico Hulkenberg in the Kick Sauber. Ollie Bearman, racing on Haas' home turf, secured points in P9, with Fernando Alonso of Aston Martin completing the top 10.
Liam Lawson and Lance Stroll of Aston Martin just missed out on points, finishing 11th and 12th, respectively. Kimi Antonelli, who had a recovery drive, finished 13th after an early race collision with Carlos Sainz.
The other Williams of Alex Albon finished 14th, followed by Esteban Ocon of Haas (P15) and Isack Hadjar of Racing Bulls (P16). Franco Colapinto, who ignored team orders, finished 17th for Alpine, with Gabriel Bortoleto of Kick Sauber in 18th.
Carlos Sainz was the only retiree, pulling off the track after a collision with Antonelli. Post-race, Verstappen closed the gap to Piastri in the Drivers' Championship, now just 40 points behind. Norris, too, is hot on the heels of his teammate, only 14 points adrift.
Looking back at the race, it was an exciting two days at the Circuit of The Americas. Saturday's Sprint and Qualifying set the stage for Sunday's Grand Prix. With the dramatic Turn 1 still fresh in everyone's minds, the start of the race was crucial.
Verstappen clinched his 47th career pole, with Norris close behind in second. Piastri, the championship leader, had a tougher day, ending the session in P6.
As the race unfolded, Verstappen's clean start allowed him to maintain his lead. Norris lost out to Leclerc, who took a wide line through Turn 1. Piastri defended hard against Russell, moving up to P5. Hamilton also gained a position, finishing the opening laps in P4.
Further back, Albon went off after a collision with Bortoleto, rejoining in last place. Tsunoda was the biggest gainer at the start, moving up four places to P9. Sainz, too, climbed up to P8 after overtaking Bearman.
Verstappen extended his lead, running three seconds clear of Leclerc by Lap 5. Leclerc found himself under pressure from Norris, who was just 0.5 seconds behind. Piastri, too, was chasing down Hamilton.
As the race progressed, Leclerc struggled to keep up with Verstappen, while Norris closed in. On Lap 19, Norris finally overtook Leclerc, only to be shown a black and white flag for exceeding track limits.
With the halfway mark approaching, the race was far from over. Verstappen's lead was cut into slightly, but he maintained his position. Norris, now in third, was told to pit, but it seemed like a bluff, as he stayed on track.
Leclerc, after pitting and swapping tires, returned to the track in ninth. Verstappen, now 11 seconds ahead, was nursing his tires, as was Norris. Piastri's weekend at COTA continued to be challenging, as he struggled to make ground in P5.
As the final laps approached, Norris closed in on Leclerc once again. Russell, too, was gaining on Piastri. In a tense finale, Norris made a decisive move on Leclerc, securing P2. Russell, however, couldn't close the gap to Piastri.
Verstappen, with a comfortable lead, took the chequered flag, followed by Norris and Leclerc. Hamilton, despite a potential puncture, held on to P4, with Piastri crossing the line in P5.
Russell finished sixth, with Tsunoda, Hulkenberg, Bearman, and Alonso completing the top 10.
Verstappen, reflecting on the race, said, "It was an unbelievable weekend. The pace between myself and Lando was really close. We made the difference in the first stint, and we kept it in the lead. I'm incredibly proud of the team for delivering such a strong performance."
